9 Most Versatile Players in Football World Right Now.

Every coach loves a specialist. But if there's one thing that modern coaches love even more, it's players who can play in multiple positions and still look comfortable. Many players are not able to do that.Today we'll talk about some of these players who can execute multiple roles to perfection. And who better to start with than Federico Valverde? You'd struggle to find a more versatile player than this guy.Although he is primarily a central midfielder, he has also been deployed as a defensive midfielder, a right back and even a winger. And what's even cooler that how he executes every role to perfection. He even helped Real Madrid win the Champions League in 2022 while playing as a right winger. And with how fluid Carlo Ancelotti likes his team to be, you just know Valverde will keep being a regular face in the team.Another Real Madrid player who has shown his versatility is Eduardo Camavinga.Camavinga, who is primarily a central midfielder, has had to play defensive midfield or even leave his midfield position entirely to play left back. When the club was plagued by injuries last season,he went to the left of defence to help the team. He did it expertly, too. Camavinga's defence helped Real Madrid win the Copa del Rey and advance to the Champions League semi-finals. At this point, Real Madrid looks like a team of all-rounders.

Federico Velverde

At the heart of defence is a man who used to be the world’s best left back - David Alaba. He made a name playing for Bayern Munich. But since he got to Real Madrid, he has been used mostly as a centre-back, but that's not all.It turns out he also features as a defensive midfielder, although that's usually for his national team. And guess what? He's quite comfortable in all 3 positions. And that's mostly because of his great technical ability. So don't be surprised if he also does very well as a left winger, although at his age, it's probably unlikely that any of his coaches would play him there. His replacement at left back in Bayern is also as resourceful as they come. Alpohnso Davies is a certified attacker for the Canadian National team. But when he plays for Bayern, he looks every bit a left back as you can imagine. What a player. Now here's another very versatile defender, John Stones. When he was signed at Man City, he was mainly used as a centre-back. But over time, he has proven that he can be a lot more than just that. Last season, Pep decided to play him in the hybrid right-back position. And well, that also meant he had to slip into the defensive midfield position as well during games. And we all know how that one turned out, don't we?

And although Stones had a huge role to play, another very versatile player in that Man City team is Bernardo Silva. Oh yes, this guy. Although he's primarily a central midfielder, this guy can also play as an attacking midfielder and a winger. But that's not all. Under Pep Guardiola, he has also played in defensive midfield, in the left wing-back position, and even as a false nine. And he finds a way to execute each role to near perfection. But for his height, we would have expected to see him as a centre-back or goalkeeper at some point.

Bernado Silva

Now, his teammate Phil Foden might not be as versatile, but he's still one of the most adaptable players in the team. Matter of fact, he's so adaptable that nobody is even sure what his real position is. Some fans might argue that his best position is on the wings, others believe that it's in attacking midfield. And it's not just at Man City that he plays in multiple positions. The story is similar even in England. Now here's someone who's a lot more used to the left wing position - Ivan Perisic. This guy just seems to be ageing like fine wine.

For many years he was mostly known to be a left winger who could also play on the right.

But when he joined Tottenham, he found himself playing as a left-wing back. He can also play as a central midfielder on different occasions. And yet, he always seems to give good performances every time.

Angel Di Maria

This next guy isn't just an all-rounder. He can also be considered to be one of the most accomplished players in the world right now. And he's none other than Angel Di Maria. This guy has won virtually everything there is to win for both club and Country. And he always seems to play a huge role each time, and in different positions too. Although he started out as a right winger, he has also been used as a left winger, attacking midfielder and even as a striker. It's just a shame that he might soon retire, though. It would have been nice to see him play in other positions.

Now, wrapping this up is Joshua Kimmich. He is one of the most talented players in the world, so its easy for people to think he is a specialist. Wrong, he has had to fill in at right-back and defensive midfielder for both for club and Country. And well, he seems to do just fine in both positions. But do you think there are more versatile players than him? Do let us know.Meet you in the next post, Goodbye.

Joshua Kimmich
