Football,as we all know,is such a beautiful game.Since the first football game was played centuries ago,our beautiful game has evolved so much, becoming even more beautiful. And guess what? Over the next few years,it'll evolve even more. And you can bet that we'd see the input of more technology into the game.Today,we'll be talking about a few technological additions we might be seeing in the future.
Bodycams
First off, body cameras on footballers. If you've ever been curious about what the players see when they run around on the field and what they say, then this technology might be for you. Yes,that's right. With the new body cams, you'd be able to have a somewhat first-hand experience of the game from the players' points of view.Pretty cool, right? Of course, this was already tested a few months ago during a preseason game between Aston Villa
and Newcastle. In that game,Youri Tielemans and Bruno Guimaraes got mic'd up. And I must say,the sights and sounds from those clips were quite fun to watch. For now,
those mics aren't yet allowed in competitive games. But if things go according to plan,
then we might just have to get used to seeing those clips regularly in the biggest football competitions. And it's fine if you don't want that one, though.Use of Bodycam in Ashton Villa vs Newcastle United.
Virtual Reality
After all, many people would rather experience the game from the point of view of fans in the
stadium.Oh, yes. And if you are one of those who craves that feeling of seeing a game from
the stands in the stadium, well you might be in luck.It turns out you might soon be able
to experience that live stadium feeling regularly. And you know what's better? You would be able to get it from the comfort of your home.Oh yes, that's right. And that's because football games might soon begin to be broadcast in virtual reality. But if you think that live stadium
feeling is the only thing you'd be getting, then you couldn't be more wrong. It's also going to
come with effects like live social media feeds and fantasy football options. You'd even have the choice of tweaking your video and audio options. Now, something similar has already been used in other sports like the NBA and NFL,and I must tell you, it was pretty cool.So
you can be sure that it'll be way cooler to have something like that in football.
Now,football fans aren't the only ones who may be getting that virtual reality feeling, through It.
Virtual Reality Lenses
Turns out even referees might be getting their own matchday virtual reality experience too.
That's right,With the proposed virtual reality lenses, referees may now be able to get a wider,
clearer and more detailed view of the game. And what's even cooler about these lenses is that they'd be quite easy to wear around during a game,as they'd pretty much be in the form of contact lenses. And not just that. They'd also be quite easy to operate and would give referees a better shot at making the correct decisions during games. Now we'd just have to hope the Premier League's referees don't mess that one up just the same way they misuse the VAR every week. And even if the Premier League referees find a way to have major clangers with that one,the next one would be way more difficult to misuse.I'm talking about robotics.
Robotic Assistant referees
Assistant referees.Oh, pretty wild, right? And if you think VAR and virtual reality lenses are cool, wait till you find out what this one can do.You see,the proposed robotic assistant referees would essentially involve the use of artificial intelligence in tracking the ball and the players during a game. This means every ball and player's movement can be accurately tracked with the finest and sharpest of details. Now,this means that controversial decisions like certain offsides which can't be correctly called by the human referee, would be spotted by the robotic referee.Hence,we're more likely to get the right calls in such cases.
Of course,we had a glimpse of something similar at the 2022 World Cup with semi-automated offside technology. But this would be taking technology in football to a whole new level. And who knows? Perhaps one day it would finally help us solve the problems of Premier league referees frequently ruining football matches with horrible calls.
Guess we'd just have to wait and see about that one. We've spoken about what referees and fans could be getting from technology in the future. But the players won't be left out as well turns out they could also be getting Sensors in jerseys.Robotic Assistant Referees.
Sensors in jerseys
Sensors in their jerseys to track their vitals and performances. So things like their heart rate, speed, and distance covered during games would be easily monitored by their clubs.
Perhaps that would help to prevent unfortunate cases of players collapsing on the field, just like the case of Raphael Dwamena, the Ghanaian footballer who collapsed and died on the field recently.Still on the talk of sensors, what do you think about the ones UEFA are planning to put in the match ball for Euro 2024.Apparently,there will be a chip fixed on a gyroscope inside the ball that sends data 500 times per second to record the point at which it is kicked.
This could prove instrumental in offside decisions and make VAR lines more accurate.
That’s enough info for today,if you like the post must share your thoughts in comments and don’t forget to share the post.Goodbye.
