10 Players with most Man of the Match awards in Football History.

One thing about the best players  is that they tend to always make their marks in games.Matter of fact, they tend to stand above most other players who share the field with them. And when they do this during a game, they get rewarded with man-of-the-match awards. And well, the more top performances you give, the more awards you get, pretty simple, right? Now,today we will be telling you about the players who have won the highest number  of Man of the Match awards in the past 15 years.

Karim Benzema

And we'll be starting with Karim Benzema. For most of his career, he was a pretty underrated striker. Of course, all of that changed after Ronaldo left and he became the  star man for the team. And when that happened,he won many Man of the Match awards. And some of those performances came in that 2022 Champions League win where he pretty much carried  Madrid in knockout games against Chelsea,PSG and Man City. Those games have made up  the 76 times that he has won that award. And just like Benzema,Antoine Griezmann has also been quite underrated.Since he got to La Liga,he has been one of the best players in that division. And unlike Benzema,he has also been a regular starter for the French national  and has been one of the top performers. He even helped fire them to that World Cup win in 2018.All these quality performances have made sure that he has won the Man of the Match award on at least 85 occasions in just over 600 appearances. And if it weren't for that poor spell at Barcelona, you just know he could have won even more.

Karim Benzema

But here's someone who is properly rated.Kevin De Bruyne Right now,Kevin De Bruyne he is considered the best midfielder in the entire world, and rightly so too.Bet you can't name even a single midfielder who carries more threat than this guy.And the thing about this guy is,he has been this good for many years, easily the best player for both Manchester City and Belgium. So it's not much of a surprise that he has won the award on at least 86 occasions in just about 450 games. And if you support Chelsea, Man United or Arsenal, you should probably know that some of those performances have come against your team. And some of those games And you just get the feeling he'll win some more of those awards this season And just like KDB,Harry Kane has also been the best player for both club and Country in recent Harry Kane years. And even after getting to Bayern,he has established himself as their best  player this season and is even topping the Bundesliga goal scoring chart. And it shows in the number of times he has won the Man of the Match award, which is about 90 times in some 450 games. And Leicester City must be absolutely sick of him, because some of those memorable performances have come against them when he absolutely destroyed them. And you're probably thinking nobody has a higher  percentage than that, but you're wrong. There are players who have a higher percentage.

Kevin De Bruyne

Take Neymar Jr,for example. He has had a career fatigue by injuries, but whenever he's fit he is easily one  of the best players in the world. Matter of fact, you'd probably agree that in his prime,he was only behind Messi and Ronaldo as the best player in the world. And that's probably why he has won the award 90 times in about 340 games that he has played. That's over 25%! And if he didn't didn't spend years playing on the same team as Messi, you just know he'd have won way more.Oh,and speaking about Messi and Ronaldo, you'll still hear about them in this post. But only if you hang on a little longer.

But before then let's talk about Robert Lewandowski. He has easily been one of the

best strikers of his generation and has won the  Man of the Match on at least 96 occasions. But certain games stood out in particular, like that Champions League game for Dortmund against Real Madrid where he scored 4 goals. There's also that game against Wolfsburg where he scored 5 times in just 9 minutes. It's just a huge shame that he couldn't get to win the Ballon d'Or,though.Eden Hazard also didn't win the Ballon d'Or,but during his prime, this guy was one of  the worst opponents you could face.He could take on multiple defenders and come out tops.So it's no real surprise that he won the award on at least 100 occasions. And one of his most memorable games was that final game for Chelsea  as they beat Arsenal in the europa league final. And speaking of europa league winners,Zlatan  Ibrahimovic also racked up a lot of Man of the Match awards in his time.In fact,he was such a top player, that he is regarded as one of the best players to have never won the UEFA Champions League. One of his best performances was that  game against England where he scored 4 goals. And aside from that game,he won the man of the match award on at least 116 other occasions.Of course, winning that many awards makes him the person with the 3rd highest Man of the Match awards.

Neymar Jr

And of course, you can already guess who are the top 2 players. With about 200 Man of the Match awards,Cristiano Ronaldo comes in at 2nd. And boy, this guy has sure produced some classical performances, especially on big Champions League nights against the biggest teams. It doesn't matter who the opposition is,or whether it's for club or country, this  guy almost always gives you top performances. And it doesn't seem like he's stopping anytime soon. He looks like he'll win more  of those awards till the age of 40.But he may never win the most man-of-the-match awards in history.Because the player with the most number of Man of  the Match awards is none other than Lionel Messi. There's not much to say. This guy rarely has  a bad game. And if you're not a Barcelona fan, then there is a huge chance that Messi has put up at least one top man-of-the-match performance against your team. And even at the age of 35,he was still the best player in most games at the last World Cup.So yeah,he has won the Man of  the Match award over 400 games. This,of course is about double the number that Ronaldo has won. So if the Man of the Match award is the marker for ability, then it might be safe to say that Messi is truly the greatest of all time.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo together.

So,now that you've got to know all of that, which player do you think would be breaking into this list  next? Do you think it would be Mbappe,Haaland or even Bellingham? Do tell us  what you think in the comments section. We'll be sure to see you next time, bye.
