Some players just cannot escape the thrill of the game once hanging up their boots. That's why a lot of these guys turn to management, now it is fair to say that not all great players make great coaches but at times they can end up coaching some of their former teammates which makes for a smooth transition in change of careers. let's take a look at Nine players that have played with their manager Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Xavi. Legendary midfielder for Barcelona and Spain Xavi learned from the best.During his first three seasons at Barcelona he learned the midfield mastery from teammate Pep Guardiola and years down the line pep would go and become a xavi's manager and the two catalans won it all together including a champions league in 2009.
After pep's departure Xavi continued to write history alongside Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta. But once he sought pastures new in qatar the club would suffer a sharp decline no manager since then has been able to steady the ship and the supporters were desperate there was only one man for the job for them it was Xavi. The former barcelona skipper was announced as manager in november 2021 and nobody knew the club better than he did.Although Messi and Iniesta had left there were still a few familiar faces at the club,Gerrard Pique was there alongside Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba
after playing alongside the three at Barcelona and for the spanish national
team he was now their coach, and he's made a pretty encouraging start finishing second in la liga and having that big win over real madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. One thing is for sure Xavi will be relying on his trusty steeds for the years to come.
Sergio Ramos and Zinedine Zidane, now we could have mentioned Zinedine Zidane and Enzo these who briefly coached him at Real and i'm sure they played many times in the garden. But we think it's more apt to include another real madrid legend Sergio Ramos.Ramos's first season at real madrid coincided with Zidane's last and the young defender fresh from Sevilla made sure to soak up all of the frenchman's wisdom.By the time Real Madrid appointed Zinedine Zidane as manager in 2016,Ramos had developed into one of the finest central defenders in the world he was zidane's general on the pitch and together they won three champions leagues and two la liga titles, when el magnifico left in 2018 his captain paid a touching tribute "gaffer both as a player and as a coach you've decided to say goodbye at the top, you've left but your legacy will last forever." And Zizu soon returned the favor when ramos left for PSG "It was a pleasure and honor to play with you.A captain that will go down in history. Thanks for everything."Nothing but Mutual Respect between these two.
Juan Sebastian Veron and Roberto Mancini.Roberto mancini was arguably Sampdoria's greatest ever player before leaving for lazio at both clubs however he would cross paths with one fiery argentine by the name of Juan Sebastian Veron with signature earrings and ripped biceps veron resembled a latin bodyguard, but on the pitch he was an elegant distributor of the ball. However the solitary season spent at Sampdoria and Lazio together was marked by a fractuous relationship between the pair "at the start our relationship was very hard, during one game I took a corner, and he said next time that I needed to hit it higher.I took that badly and Insulted him. Then when I got back to the dressing room,he was waiting for me,he wanted to knock me out. He'd taken off and wanted us to fight like kickboxers."This incredible anecdote explains the Italian manager's complex personality. In 2004 Mancini was named the manager of Inter Milan and guess which player was signed immediately on loan yes, Veron their reunion was a bit more amicable this time. Round unfortunately for everyone Mancini managed to keep his top on and all's well that ends well as they lifted numerous trophies together for the narazuri.
David Trezeguet Alessandro del Piero and DDA Deschamps DDA Deschamps has the most impressive trophy cabinet of any French footballer he's one of only three footballers to have won the world cup both as manager and player and the team he led to win the world cup trophy in 1998 had one striker by the name of David Trezeguet. Thanks to the striker's golden goal against italy deschamps would add a euro 2000 trophy to his already incredible collection. However in 2006 the kalkia police scandal would rock italian football like none other compromising audio tapes that were leaked proving juve's sporting director had assigned certain referees to bien kireni's games with the help of an accomplice in the italian federation. The sanctions were severe Juventus was stripped of the title and relegated into Serie B.Juve immediately called on Deschamps's services to restore order and he could rely on a core group of players that would not jump ship among them was Gianluigi buffon and two former teammates of dd del piero and tres aguero.Despite suffering a nine point deduction Deschamps took him back up to Serie A Del piero and Treseguet scored 35 goals between them and ensured that promotion.Whether as a captain or coach Deschamps cultivated a fruitful relationship with Treseguet."He is unique at first,as a player,he gave me so much advice. He's a loyal friend a great guy.
Balotelli and Vieira shared the pitch twice in their playing careers the world cup winner first crossed paths with the italian striker into Milan."I played with Mario for a few years. He was just a kid when I was in Inter, then I played with him again at Manchester City.If the former gunner was the definition of leadership and intelligence on the pitch super Mario was completely the opposite. At city he demonstrated the ability to marry moments of madness with moments of genius,he had the talents to silence old trafford with a double but also the recklessness to throw darts at the
academy players.This guy was nuts!But
while Vieira was a manager at Nice he
didn't hesitate to call on the services
of his former teammate but their reunion
didn't always go to plan."It was challenging managing him at Nice,it was frustrating to see a player waste so much talent. As a manager, you always try to get the best out of each player, but it's very difficult to do so with him.But i'll always love him."It's not hard to imagine the big brother little brother dynamic that these two share.
Fernando Torres and Diego Simeone now we're talking about two of the biggest
legends in Atletico Madrid history. Here before taking the reigns as manager
Simeone was Madrid's general in midfield
over two spells at the club in the mid 90s and the early 2000s.During his second stint he would witness the meteoric rise of a young phenom by the name of el nino aka Fernando Torres. The two shared the dressing room for two seasons together before Simeone returned to his native argentina and Torres moved to england where he would enjoy the highs at Liverpool and low's at Chelsea.I mean he did win the champions league with Chelsea though so he had alright time. When the Prodigal son returned to the Vincente Calderon in 2015 Torres had won it all both with his club and Spain. His new coach would be a familiar face Diego Simeone but his status as club legend didn't give him an easy ride he was often left on the bench which was
pretty difficult for him."I don't know if he had something against me,or if it was just professional,it must have been a bit of both.It kicked off,I still don't know why he left me on the bench."But as he eventually waved goodbye to Atletico Madrid his coach paid him a touching tribute."He suffered because i didn't let him play, but he demonstrated an unwavering respect for my decisions. His legacy is beyond football.I wish him the best, and I'm sure he'll come back to Atletico Madrid.Just like his illustrious compare Torres is back coaching the Atletico B team,a team which has Diego someone's son.
Football is one never-ending cycle. So that was our list of players that have played with their manager do you think that helps in the dressing room do you know any more that we could include let us know in the comments❤️🤗.
